Disappointing as it is, this blog will soon be discontinued. As in, it won't be here anymore. The Library is having some changes, and it was decided that each branch's teen blog will be taken off, and we will do something else instead.
Could it be something more exciting? It is possible.
I will make one post after this one when everything is decided and in place, so do not fear.

Summer Reading

It is almost the end of summer.
That means, you need to turn in your summer reading forms so that you can get free stuff and enter to win the grand prize (tickets to Medieval Times).
We have all this stuff to give you, so come in to the branch!

this is very exciting.

I know how you young people, and some older people, are.

They don't always want to read. Sometimes they want to play VIDEO GAMES.

This is why I have decided, after much deliberation (okay, I decided once I found out that I could do it and jumped with glee and signed up immediately) that we are going to play SUPER SMASH BROTHERS BRAWL on the NINTENDO WII at the FIVE FORKS BRANCH on JULY 30, 2009.

This is VERY BIG news.

Because this game is SUPER exciting and deservedly POPULAR and LOVED by youngins and old people like me alike.

This program is going to last a FULL TWO HOURS, and we will have POPCORN.

Because, you see, I ALWAYS want to eat popcorn when Mario is beating up Link. It's inevitable.

Now, we will not be having so many video games and delightful teen programs in the future, so be sure to show up and say 'i love playing video games at the library; this is the sort of thing that I live for' and then we will all get warm feelings in our stomachs and enjoy the time we have together.

I am also giving out PRIZES. We are having a raffle. And winners will get COOL STUFF.
So you need to come, and bring your friends, and share in the joy of Nintendo.

Otherwise, I will cry, and the world will cry with me. Or at least my friend Mr Awesome will, and you don't want that.

Tomorrow at noon (Tuesday, June 16 2009, 12:00 pm), we will be having our second teen program of the summer.

This is a really good program, because it revolves around food.

And you know how we like to feed you at these things.

So you'll get to decorate food, and then eat it!

And then you can go home and feel the joy and love of sugar!

Well, I know I at least am excited.

Because tomorrow is our first teen program of the summer!

Wednesday, 3:00 pm is when we will be playing Rock Band at the Five Forks branch!

It will be absolutely brilliant!

you want to show up. you know you do.

We will even give you food!

And you can even ask us, 'can we play video games at the library more often?'

And we will say, 'Yes! Yes you can!'

And then everyone will go home happy, including me.

Because who wants to do boring stuff at the library?

Only boring people.

We want to do fun stuff at the library, seeing as we are cool people.

So do not forget.

But if you can't make it . . .

Don't worry!

We will play video games again, I promise. You can even tell us which ones you want to play! And then maybe sometime in the future we can play them!

It has been a while . .

Alas, this blog has not been updated in a while.

But that is because we haven't had such exciting news since the last post!

Not long ago, the teen Summer Reading Program started. This means that you can sign up for it and get cool stuff just for reading books.

And we have all these programs this summer! Like starting next week! Check it out y'all!

At Five Forks, we will have a ROCK BAND program next Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
This is so cool because we will play the video game and be all, 'yeah i so rock, i rock more than you,' and then someone else will play and they'll be all, 'nah i rock more' and so on until everyone plays and we decide that we are all awesome.

And we'll eat food too!

And then we'll have another program on like the 16th in which we will decorate food and eat it and stuff!

And then another program on July 7th in which we will play Cranium! Because everyone needs to play games at the library!

And our last teen program will be killaz too because we will play Super Smash Brothers Brawl on July 30th!

Is this not the best summer of your life?

Clearly, it is.

Teen Program NEXT WEEK!

I know I have not updated in like TEN THOUSAND YEARS and you are all wondering, 'Why has the Five Forks Library Teen Blog not been updated? Is there nothing happening at Five Forks? Should I cry about this?'

BUT-

We just haven't had any programs in a while! That is all! And now we will be having one again! So you can stop grieving!

And DID YOU KNOW?

This program is super cool. We are going to have a real life Comic Book Guy come in and teach you how how to do comic book art. His name is Kyle Puttkamer, and he owns the Ever Amazing Galactic Quest store, and he is going to come in to this library and show how all his mad skills and you will be amazed and you will even learn how to use the same kind of mad skills!

And this is all for free! And there will be food!

This will be happening next week, on the 15th of April at 4:00 PM and that is one week away!

I know I am terribly excited about this, because this is a real professional dude teaching you stuff and not just me being a goof and teaching you stuff!

Trust me, you want to be at the library for this.

Tomorrow!

Today is a good day.

But tomorrow is an even better day.

Do you have any idea what wonders await you tomorrow?

TOMORROW IS THE DAY OF OUR NEXT AWESOME TEEN PROGRAM. 0_0

And we will be doing ORIGAMI.

I know, right?

And guess what else?

WE WILL HAVE SEMI-JAPANESE FOOD.

Like candy and stuff! From places near Japan! Because who wants to eat American candy when folding paper? No one!

We're going to make flowers and cranes and doodads out of pretty paper and when we finish we will marvel at our mad skill and absolute brilliance and then eat some more candy and say, 'Ah, aren't we worldly and cultured here? We are definitely the envy of, well, pretty much everyone else, because we are just that cool. I bet there're teens in Japan who wish they were here right now.'
In fact, I there are probably some over there in Asia reading this and thinking, 'Man, if only we lived in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Then we could do stuff that we do here only it will be there and that means it will be better.' Seriously, yo.

So yeah, Tuesday the tenth of February at 3:30, which is like 30 hours from now, except not exactly.

And you can hang out there for two hours if you want! Or you can just hang out for a bit if you can't handle the incredible awesomeness that will reside in the meeting room at the Five Forks library!

Whooeee! I am so not going to be able to sleep tonight!

Over the hills and far away . . .

Brace yourself; I have bad news.

The library will be closed from the 24-26 of this month.

What's that? Do I hear the tracks of tears running down your lovely young faces?

Ahhh, the holiday season! 'Tis enough to bring tears to everyone's eyes! And we have hardly any holiday-tastic books available, because all you little- I mean, delightful young teens, who are a wonder to behold and strike joy into the hearts of all you meet, keep checking them all out! How am I supposed to keep a holiday display stocked if there aren't any holiday books for me to put there?

But I have good news too!

We have program information on our Glorious Library Website! Huzzah!
So go look and see our Origami thingamarole, which you are all welcome to come to on February 10th at 3:30.
And then later we will tell you of more awesome stuff you can be a part of! Because the fun never ends at the Five Forks branch!

Almost the end . . of the year

Now, we did have our LAST TEEN PROGRAM of the year on Wednesday, so that means you will not have more reason to come to the library than you have already (as if you really needed one), but since it is the holiday season, I'm sure you will find something which will keep your spirits up until our next program which will be next year.

I know, I know, spending time with people you love and having them give you presents and food is not nearly as good as coming in to the library for some fun filled activity, but that is life, you young whippersnappers, and you will just have to get used to it.

But next year we will have new teen programs, and they will be even more fun than the ones we had this year.

"Golly gee," I hear you say, 'how is such a thing possible?"

"Impossible as it may sound," I reply, "it does get better-- but you will just have to wait and see."

So to all of you Whos in Whoville--

Have a jolly old time this holiday season celebrating the holiday of your choice, and don't forget that if you don't get the books you want for Christmas/etc, you can check them out from the library!

Head of Teenage Excitement

Hola, aloha, hallo, and greetings,

Many of you, I know, are crying your eyes out over the fact that you missed the last teen program due to circumstances unforeseen, but cheer up! We are having ANOTHER DRUM SESSION!

This means that you have ANOTHER CHANCE to join in the fun that you missed out on before!

You can HIT THINGS! And MAKE NOISE! Yippie Skippie all the live long day!

So, this Wednesday at 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM, you know where you'll be. You'll be at the Five Forks Library, livin' it up with your pallies and people you don't know but might like anyway, thinking, "Goodness me, does life get any better than this?"

Perhaps it does, but if so, well, I don't know how.

When you find yourselves, in fifteen years time, making oodles of dough as the drummers for some wicked bands, you will thank me for giving you your first taste of the rhythm, which will most certainly get you.

The sun will come out TOMORROW

Tomorrow is the day you have been waiting for with bated breath. But just in case you forgot, which I'm sure you haven't, since this is the best thing to happen since Harry Potter was published, let me remind you: Tomorrow we will be having our drumming program.

Yes, you read that right. Tomorrow.

So at 4:30 in the afternoon, come in to the greatest library that ever lived and do things that you're normally not allowed to do in the library ( makes noise, hit things, etc).

It will be wicked spectacular, and if you do not come, you will be more than sad; you will be despondent.

However, we will have the drum dude back again in two weeks so that you can have even more fun.

So cheerio, ta ta, and so on, until tomorrow.

Hark! What teens through yonder library break?

Dear teens, how I have missed you all! Especially those of you who (unfortunately and due to unforseen and dreadful circumstances that were most certainly unavoidable) did not get a chance to attend our fabulous movie night in which we saw Dan Ackroyd get covered in slime among other exciting things.

"Dear me!" I hear you say, "how can I live with myself knowing I have missed that?! Surely life is not worth living now?"

But o! Your outlook on life should improve by the end of the month, because we are having another teen program! O to joy!

I know you are waiting with bated breath for more details, so I shall reveal to you the subject matter of our next brilliant program, just in case you forgot.

We will be having so much crazy fun, you will not be able to contain yourselves. We will party so hard your brains will explode because . . .

We will be making joyous music! Yes! We will have a groovy guy come in with loads of drums and expert knowledge which he will pass on to you. You will have so much fun you will be begging, "Please let us come back again and repeat this amazing experience! Please!"

To which we will reply, "How can we say no to that? It simply cannot be done! Do come back again in two weeks!"

So that is how the events will play out. On November 19 at 4:30 PM, we will have our first taste of the bliss that is making noise, and then we will do it again on December 3 at the same time.

Movie Night on Thursday!

Exciting times are upon us . . . because this Thursday we're having our movie night! Huzzah!

As you may remember, the film is GHOSTBUSTERS, and you don't want to miss it--not just because Ghostbusters is wicked awesome, but because we will have FOOD. Lots of food and nothing healthy, so there is no need to worry that we'll be feeding you carrots and Kashi, which would be a real nightmare (and no, we would not even dream of subjecting you to that).

Yes, fun times will be had by all teens who dare enter here . . .

Teen Read Week

Next week is the single most important week of your life. That's right, from the 12th-18th of this great month of October, it is TEEN READ WEEK.

Do you know what this means?

It means you have an excuse to read more books.

The theme is Books With Bite, and with a theme like that, how could it possibly be bad?

It can't.

This is of course a great time to read all sorts of killer awesome books--you know, ones about vampires or wild animals or werewolves or other things that bite.

Biting is one of the most important things you'll ever do, especially if you happen to be a vampire/wild animal/werewolf/etc--which I'm sure many of you are--so this theme is central to our lives.

Plus we have free bookmarks.

So you need to come in and celebrate, because celebration is what the library is all about.

FALL PROGRAMS!

Does the awesomeness never end?

Nope, it doesn't. And I know because we have TWO teen programs planned for this fall!

Oh, yes, we've got some amazing, brilliant, spectactularly cool things coming up.

The first is . . . . .. . .

A movie night!

And the movie is . . . . . .

GHOSTBUSTERS!

So on Thursday, October 23, at 4:00 PM, make sure you're at the library, because we will have not only the movie, but snacks! And good times all around!


The second is actually so great, we couldn't contain it. So we have TWO drum sessions coming up! That's right, TWO opportunities to bang on your drums and make noise, glorious noise!
And when will these be, you wonder?

Well, I shall tell you. The first is on Wednesday, November 19, from 4:30- 6:00 PM, and the second is on another Wednesday-- December 3, at the same time.

I know, I know; it's a long time to wait--- but you will just have to be patient. After all, half the fun is in the anticipation. Or at least that's what people say; it's up to you whether you want to believe them or not.

Guess what guess what!!

The teen summer reading program final raffle winner has been chosen. No, it wasn't someone from the Five Forks branch who won. It was someone from Collins Hill.

I know, you will probably cry about it for a week at least BUT----

Do not fear! We have a teen program coming up in October! And we'll have more later in the year! And next year, too! 'Twill be fantastic! Oh, the larks we will get up to . . .

In the meantime, you can always come in and check out spectacular books. We are overflowing with righteous teen literature that you should devour in one sitting. AND you can talk to me, which I know you have all been dying to do.

I know you are all very sad that summer is over, and you have to go back to school, which seriously cuts into your time to read good books, but . . .
You can still enter to win our FINAL SUMMER PRIZE DRAWING! This prize consists of TWO tickets to Medieval Times and some memorabilia as well. You only have until the 15th to enter, so head on in to the library today.
